deleted "symbol" option from insert field

While I was using Word for in Office XP for Small
Business Version 2002, in the middle of a document I was
creating, under the "insert" tab, the "symbol" option
disappeared. I removed the program and even reloaded it
again from scratch but the "symbol" option still does not
show up? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wrong newsgroup; this is the Outlook newsgroup.

Anyway; View-> Toolbars-> Customize-> tab Commands and drag and drop the
command to place where you want it
