Deleting current PST personal folder

I want to restore Outlook to a "new" state - how do I close out the personal
folder so I can delete the .PST file?

You can't close the default .PST file. Depending on your version of
Outlook, you may be able to create a new profile and have Outlook use that
one instead of the current one -- then you will get a new, blank .PST file.
