deleting documents

I never could figure this out in Office 2004 and had hoped that the upgrade to Office 2008 would do the trick.....but it doesn't. Can anyone tell me how to delete entire documents in Word? I've used the Help function, but it gets really technical (like, what's a macro?) really quickly. I just want to get rid of old documents that are taking up space. Thanks.

If you're referring to deleting document files by way of the Open and/or
Save As dialogs, it can't be done. This has nothing to do with Word or
Office - it's the way OS X is designed to work. Use a Finder window to
navigate to the file locations & delete the files from there.

Open a Finder window. Open your Documents folder and find the files you
want to delete. Select them and drag them to the Trash.
