Deleting e-mail from inbox

How do I delete multiple e-mails at one time? I have
tried to highlight a series of the envelopes to do
a "select all" type operation, but I can't get it to
work. What I have on the screen now is a list of incoming
msgs, and below a preview of the msg as I move down the
list. I now have to individually click on the delete
button which takes forever. Thanks for your help.

Can you click on one message in the Inbox list and then use either the Shift
key to select a range of items or the CTRL key to select multiple items that
are not necessarily next to each other?
