deleting email without opening

When I receive email from an unknown origin I delete it
without opening it. However, when I look in the deleted
items folder these items are open. Where do I go and how
do I change this so that they do not open when I delete
them?

When you say "Open" in deleted items, do you mean "read" or have you got the
preview pane set on the Deleted Items folder?

before I delete it but it is open in the deleted folder.
I cannot preview the email in the deleted folder

Then that means the email is marked as Read, NOT open.
