Deleting Macro

D

I recently tried stamps.com which put a button on my word 2003 toolbar. When
I removed the software from my machine, it left this. When I try to start a
new document or close word, I get warnings about macros. I don't want to
deal with this macro warning everytime I open/close word. How do I delete
the stamps.com macro items once and for all. I found the macro area but the
delete is grayed out. Also, I accidently created a new macro while trying to
play around and delete the stamps.com one. HELP. Here is one of the items I
found in the list (Quick envelope short cut.MAIN by Pitney Boes (there are 9
entries). It says it is in all active templates and documents.

Hi, Deb. A few things probably need to be checked. Get into Word and go to
Tools-->Options, File locations tab, and check where your Startup folder is.
Go to that folder in My Computer (with Word closed) and get the template out
of there. I don't know its name, but I'm sure you'll recognize it when you
see it. Be sure when you look for it that you're viewing hidden/system files
on your PC.
(See "show file extensions..." at
http://www.officearticles.com/misc/files_dont_open_when_double-clicked_in_microsoft_office.htm )
Now, open Word. Hit Alt+F11 or Tools-->Macro-->Visual Basic Editor. You'll
see a folder on the left under Normal.dot called NewMacros. Right-click
NewMacros and hit Remove. Tell it NO when asked if you want to Export it.

If Anne's advice doesn't work, look in the Office Startup folder which is in
your office programs folder. She's right, removing the program did not,
apparently, remove its add-in.

I looked around in the startup folder, but finally found what I was looking
for in the Templates folder. I deleted it and when I went back into word I
didn't get the warnings that were popping up earlier. Thanks for you help.
This is a great place!
