Different templates in a presentation?

Hi,

I am trying to create a ppt presentation with different templates. Is this
possible?
ie. I downloaded a few very nice pre-designed templates from the www. When I
copy and paste the templates in a presentation, somehow only 1 template will
be the background for the entire presentation.

I think I should save the downloaded templates as "gif" or "jpeg" files. And
then I shall apply the jpeg or gif files as Background (fill background with
a picture)... In this case I seem to be able to apply different pictures as
background.. But somehow the pictures are shrunk to fit the slides with the
pre-defined template.. Am i making sense or confused here?

Multiple templates can only be used in the same presentation from version
2002 onwards.
