different versions of word

Hi PB-

I assume you mean that the saved file was created by an earlier version of
Word. It should not be any different than opening any other doc... navigate
to the CD
Drive through your Open File dialog box & open the file.

You probably _will not_ be able to save any changes to it, though. Any
revisions will have to be saved as a new file on your hard drive or other
re-writable media.

If the file was created by a _newer_ version of Word & you are trying to
open it with an older version, please post back with specific details.

First copy the file to your HD (do *not* try to open it from the CD). You'll
need to right-click on it in Explorer, select Properties, and clear the Read
Only property (which is always set for files on a CD). Then you should be
able to open it in Word.
