difficulty synchronizing outlook with pocket pc

I am trying to synchronize a new pocket pc with outlook.
When I open the synchronization window, an error message
comes up: YOur microsoft exchange server is
unavailable". I have not knowingly set up a connection
with an exchange server and do not want to at this time.
I only want to synchronize datebook and addressbook. I
have not been able to get past this issue. Any help?

Open Tools->Email Accounts->View or Change and remove the Exchange account.
Install your POP3 or IMAP account (contact your ISP for details) and then
close and reopen Outlook.
