I haven't explored other Office apps, but in Excel:
Tools>Options>Save>Disable Autorecover. I guess there would be similar
options in Word, etc.

Uncheck "Save AutoRecovery.........." in Tools, Options, Save.

If this isn't what you are talking about, then you will need to provide
more information.

I'm not sure why someone would want to disable Document Recovery.
That's like disabling your the air bags in your car. You hope you
don't need to use it but if you do then being about to recover unsaved
changes after a crash or hang sure is handy to have.

I'd be interested in knowing more about the reason "why". I suspect
it's due to encountering an error and those can be resolved without
the need to turn off safety devices.

If his users are anything like mine, it's one of the bosses with a Type-A
personality who is annoyed by the slight pause while the recovery info is
saved. He is also too cheap to buy a faster computer and too obstinate to
increase the save interval. He'll throw the baby out with the bath water,
then when he loses something important it will be the IT guy's fault.

Damn that felt good! Thanks for letting me vent my frustrations.
