disable high priority email alert sound?

Thought I'd try this again.

About 10 days ago I posted the following:
----------------------------------------
I'm on a pc w/ XP (fully updated) w/ Office 2003. We are on exchange 2003 as
well.

When we receive an email that's been flagged (the 'high priority' flag), we
get this triple beep sound/alert.

I'd really like to change this. I checked control panel>sounds & audio
devices, and there's a general email alert notification, but nothing specific
to the 'high priority' flag.

I checked all the options under 'Outlook>tools>options, and even checke
everything in control panel>mail.

Can't find it anywhere so... is there a way to change this setting?
----------------------------------------

I received the following reply (thanks Milly!):

Look under your Rules and Alerts. There is an option to play a sound when a
certain event happens

----------------------------------------
However, that only has gotten me 1/2 the way there. I followed up w/ this:
----------------------------------------

That worked, partly. I now have the desired sound/wav attached to emails
that are flagged as "high importance", but I also still have the default
triple beep. That is, when I get an email flagged as high importance, I first
get the triple beep sound, then the wav file that I used in the rule I
created.

Is there a way to get rid of that default beep?

-------------------------------------------------

But never received a reply back (there's a lot of questions I know).
Is there any way to disable the default "beep" one gets when an
urgent email is received, and to only have the new sound wav play?

thanks,

Jim

I had the same problem, and I figured out that the triple beep was
caused by the "ViewMail" Outlook add-in. ViewMail allows playing voice
mails through our Cisco IP phones.

If you have ViewMail, this is how to disable the triple beep:
1. Select Tools - ViewMail Options from the Outlook menu.
2. Click on the Notification tab.
3. Uncheck "Play urgent message sound". Or, you can change the sound
by clicking on the Browse button.

I hope this helps!

Edit your users registry:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cisco Systems\Cisco Unity\VMO\Options]
"Run the demo version"=dword:00000000
"Play urgent message sound"=dword:00000001
"Urgent message sound file"="c:\\WINDOWS\\Media\\Windows XP Notify.wav"
"Play new voice message sound"=dword:00000001
"New voice message sound file"="C:\\Program Files\\ViewMail\\YOUHAVE.WAV"
"Play voice automatically"=dword:00000000
"Keep only message headers in the Sent Items folder"=dword:00000000
==============
Just upload a new sound file to your users systems and add it to "Urgent
message sound file"="c:\\WINDOWS\\Media\\Windows XP Notify.wav" regkey.
