Disappearing Email

I connect to sever; it shows 5 emails to download; they download into my
Inbox; I see the blue (5) indicating the 5 new emails; but when I check the
inbox some (or all) are deleted. Where do they go?

This is particularly irritating when someone is on the phone; sending an
email; I check and see it; but it disappears.

Any ideas?

Do you have any filters set on the Inbox that might be hiding certain
messages, or are there rules that might be moving the messages elsewhere?
If you've read the message in question, you probably have an "Unread
Messages" filter set, which (obviously) would hide messages that have
already been read.
