I originally wrote a document in Microsoft Works, including a significant
number of footnotes. I then saved this document to a zip disk and then
transferred it to another hard drive, before saving it in Works again. After
installing Word, I opened the document to find that the footnotes (and the
numbers within the text) had disappeared; the footnotes are also no longer
there when I open the document in Works. The document on the original hard
drive also seems to have lost all footnotes.
There were certainly footnotes at one time, as I have hard copy to prove it!
Can anyone shed any light on what may have happened and offer any thoughts
as to how I might be able to retrieve them?
