Disappearing screen graphics

When I insert a graphic into word, it cannot be seen. If I click on it, i see
the handles only. If I move a handle, the entire picture appears. Once the
picture displays, if I scroll the picture off screen, then scroll back, the
picture can no longer be seen. I must re-select/resize to again view it.
Extremely annoying. I have applied all available service packs. I have
re-installed word... same symptoms. 'View->Drawings' is 'checked', 'Picture
Placeholders' is unchecked.

Your thoughts are most welcome.

Try reducing the hardware acceleration setting in your display adapter.
Start | Control Panel | Display | Advanced.

Thanks....but: I lowered the HW acceleration by 1/2 - No help. Then I tried
this test. Did a screen capture of my desktop and pasted into Word 2003 and
into Power Point. In Power Point, increased the size of the graphic to force
scroll bars to appear. Graphic works fine in power point, but disappears in
Word. Also, when graphic initially pasted into word, it was invisible until I
clicked on it, and moved a handle. I think that this is somehow related to
Word 2003 and not the HW. I could be wrong.

I have exactly the same problem as Gerryj. I have tried reinstallin
Office 2003 but without success. I have even tried installing a olde
version of Word but the problem remains. It is driving us mad as m
daughter regularly pastes images into word for her school work. I woul
be grateful for any ideas before I reinstall Windows XP
