Display Duration in hours?

While getting to grips with how MSP calculates Durations etc, I think it
would be useful to see the Duration in hours rather than days.

I know MSP stores Durations in units smaller than days (hours or minutes),
so can I change the display to show hours?

Or am I asking to do something which does not make sense?

TIA

Hi Martin,

Definitely not!
Tools, Macro, Macros, Format_Duration, Run.

Thanks, Jan, you're a star.

But I despair why these things are thrown in as macros rather than as base
functionality.

Hi Martin,

Concerning software products, I gave up wondering "why" years ago :)

You can change the settings fro the Options/Schedule section to display
future duratiosn in hrs. But the macro would be needed to convet any
previous durations in the form of days to hours.

It is part of the "base functionality" to display durations in any units you
choose and no macro programming is required, just set the default to
whatever you like before entering tasks and go for it. For that matter,
when you enter durations you can use any unit you like and MSP with preserve
your unit of choice on a task by task basis regardless of what the default
durtion unit is set to. If your default is "days" and you enter a task
duration of the raw number "16" it will use 16 days but if you enter it as
"16h," explicitly stating the unit, it will display it as 16 hours. The
macro Jan told you about is just tossed into the box by MS to give you a
convenient way of changing the duration units after the fact for tasks
you've already input in cases where you've changed you mind, setting all the
tasks to display with the same unit of your choosing.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I needed to change them after the fact, which
is why Jan's post was spot on.
