Document ist used by another user

Hallo,

I have copied some Documents from a Win98 PC (Word 97) to a new WinXP
PC with Word 97. But I I try to open a Document I recive the following
Message: "Document ist used by Max Mustermann. Wold You like Word to
make a Copy?" (I hope the translation ist correct, because I use the
german version of Word 97.)

Does anyone know how I'am able to deactivate this message?
