Document Merge not working after installing SP3

Has anyone had else encountered the porblem of merging
data from an excel spreadsheet into a word template after
installing the OfficeXP SP3.

When opening Word File get the message "Opening this
document will run the following SQL command; Select from *
Sheet 1, Data from this spreadshet will be placed into
this document" but the data is not entered and the merge
will not complete. Could installing the SP3 effect a merge
process.?
