"Document Theme" missing from Formatting Palette?

I was trying to change the theme of a document I was editing, but for some reason the "Document Theme" section does not appear in my Formatting Palette. (I tried changing my palette settings - clearing and setting the checkbox corresponding to "Document Theme" - but no change.)

The one thing I haven't done yet is specifically check to see whether there are actually any "themes" installed on my system - I took the default installation options, so I would have expected them to be there...

Document themes are only available in files saved in the new Office Open XML
format (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx). My guess is that the file you are currently
editing is still in the old format; you can verify this by checking if the
text string "[Compatibility Mode]" is displayed next to the document title
in your title bar. If it is, save the file in the new file format to make
the Document Themes section appear in the Formatting Palette.

Yep, that was the reason. The document I was editing was an in the old 97-2003 .doc format.

Thanks for the information...
