If I can push my own book...

Thanks fro doing so.
I had been sent here from the TabletPC NG wit the instructions to look
out for you and your book ;-) ;-)

Unfortunately it's not available on Amazon Germany so I had to order
it in the states with long and expensive shipping :-( :-(
... Whether the
book is updated to OneNote 2007 will depend on whether there is
an audience for the book and when the authors are available to
write it. (We both want to, but it is hard to get OneNote books
in the bookstores. Managers don't know where to shelve it, so
people can't find it.)

Would be great if it was possible.
ON 2007 seems to be quite different in many parts.

Thanks again

Look out for or watch out for? {evil grin}....

Really - glad that they sent you over here. You seem to be fitting in quite
nicely. Let me know what you think of the book.

This raises an interesting tangent.... It IS very hard to get OneNote books
sold. Publishers don't think there is a market for it. Our book is on
Books24x7 and does better there than in the print book stores. Even with
that, you have to have it selling to get it in there. Anyone have any ideas
how to get publishers to realize that OneNote is a viable product and that
books on it are needed?

Rainald,
If you are looking ahead at use of OneNote2007 then I think the best "book"
would be reading this forum (save the juicy parts in OneNote --- that's what
I do.) *and* the blogs from the following people:

Chris Prately
Owen Bauer
Dan Escapa
David Rasmussen
(fiorst name?) Strong, the UK product manager for Outlook
and, perhaps, the other blogs they reference.

Mr. Bauer has not written since January but his last couple of posts are
very good descriptions about what is happening to the work style of today and
how OneNote has evolved to meet those changes. Chris writes very practical
info about the interface and design choices.

I did not have more than a couple of hours experience with ON2003 but this
2007 version seems like what I thought 2003 would be like. And there are
still things missing in 2007.

I read all this stuff on the forum and love the broad reach of the
questions. the forum is a forward-looking view. The books, however, are all
likely to be written such a long time ago. I also never found the depth I
wanted in the books (although I thought the Zimmerman one had promise -- I
never saw the book itself) . I want to know how to change my way of working
and the books spend so much time on the interface and commands.

Kathy Jacobs has a web site for her work in PowerPoint and OneNote.

Good luck. Maybe YOU will write the book that needs to be written.

Thanks for your kind words, Kathy!

I believe you that it's really difficult publishing literature on
software which so far has been a "niche" product moer or less.
The more as people don't think it was necessary to have books in the
days of googling through blogs :-( :-(

Kepp up your good work

Thanks for the bunch of ideas, Jonathan!

That's what I meanwhile did too with several postings ;-)
Learning by doing <d>

BTW: very easy from Outlook Express (my newsreader and mail-client):
Marking the posting in the list, Edit | Copy, then pasting into ON.

Same estimation on my side.

Yes, many things are different now.
Still I hope to get some basic ideas on what I call the "philosophy".
For me it always is most important to understand what it's about, not
just "click here, then there .."

Absolutely the same on my side.
The German book I bought (online, not in a bookstore) was just that.
Pretty useless, money thrown out of the window [grrrh].

Also put in my ON notebook the other day said:

Your idea honours me. But this will not happen.
Quite a number of books that I should have written ...

And I'm sure it will take quite some time until I can just work with
ON.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and for valuable suggestions
