Does Microsoft office XP expire?

I purchased Microsoft Office xp Standard version 2002(for students and
teachers) for school. I am taking a course that requires the use of both
Microsoft word and excel. However, a dialog box pops up and states that my
version expired and would I like to convert. I reply yes and I type in the 25
digit code but it comes up invalid. I am able to enter a template. However, I
am unable to edit text. Does the Microsoft expire after a certain amount of
time? Please help!

Did you have to reinstall the software? If yes, it requires a separate
activation number. See Help->Activate Product and see if the activation
wizard will start.
