dots all through my text

I'm writting a document. And I keep getting,

How..........................can..................I..............make it
stop????

Probably by clicking a paragraph mark icon on a tool or ribbon bar. A
paragraph mark looks like a backwards "P" with two vertical bars (the
loop might be filled in).

However, it would make it easier to determine exactly what resources you
have at you disposal if you would indicate which version of Microsoft
Word you are using.

I imagine you're also getting paragraph marks in places where you
pressed the "Enter" key while typing. The same technique (clicking the
Paragraph icon on the tool bar) should turn those off as well.

All those periods are an OPTIONAL indicator of how many spaces you typed
and where the word processor's insertion point was when you typed them.

Extending on what the others have suggested: If you're actually seeing that
many dots between words you need to be much more careful with your use of
the spacebar and/or go into the Keyboard Control Panel & adjust the
settings.
