Double up Projects in the Master Project Program

Hello,

Recently I encountered a problem with MS Project Professional 2003. For some
reason, when in the Resource Usage View, Projects are coming up twice next to
particular resource names. However, the Project that is suddenly coming up
is the under the file path name, that is, \\syd\projects\general\Horsley
Program. Then after a number of these projects have also appeared, the actual
project name 'Horsley Program' will appear. Not only this, but the hours
under the file path name are incorrect and outdated...they seem to be from an
older, non-updated project program. The hours under the actual project name
are up-to-date and 100% correct.
Why is this happening? How do I get rid of the file path name?
I am using a Resource Pool which all projects are sharing the resources from.
Not long ago, the servers at work where changed. All project files were
copied onto a new drive. Since then this has been happening.

Could someone please help me?

Hi,

Are the new folders on the new drive exactly the same name as the original
and is the drive name or letter exactly the same? If not, then you have a
high risk of corruption. I recommend you:
1) Create a new, blank Resource Pool
2) Open the old pool
3) Open each project attached to the old Pool in turn and attach to the new
pool instead of the old pool
4) Save the project and the new Pool
5) Delete or rename the old pool (but only after all projects have been
re-attached to the new pool)

Test.

Obviously a backup of all the project files first is advisable.

Hi Rod,

I have already allocated resources to tasks with specific hours/units using
the original resource pool. If I create a new resource pool, then attach the
projects to the new resource pool, will the hours/units that I have already
input remain the same? Or will I also have to do them again?

In regards to the drive letter - no it is not the same. It changed to a
different letter. However there is still only the ONE project file, not
multiple copies of it.
