Download Wordart Compatibility tool

I am using Publisher 2003 with Windows XP. I downloaded the WordArt
compatibility tool but when I go to go to INSERT OBJECT, I don't have the
option of Microsoft WordArt 3.2. Can you suggest what I have missed? When I
download the file does it need to be directed to a specific program file?

I put it in the same directory as Office 11. Then when I went to RUN it , it
said that it was installed. I then opened Publisher and tried INSERT OBJECT,
it doiesn't show up.

Did I miss a step somewhere?

The setup should be here:
C:\WINNT\system32
The file itself is called pdwrdart.inf
This is probably why Office is not finding the add-in. It is a system file...

You must double-click the pdwrdart.exe (the original download) for the program to
install...

Thanks Mary for your response. I am still baffled. I followed the process
and it tells me the download was successful.

When I look in Windows Explorer: C:Windows System 32, I see two files. One
is pbwrdart - 3 KP- Set Up Information and the second is PbWrdArt -117 KB-
Application.

When I open publisher and go to Insert: Object there is still no option for
Microsoft WordArt 3.2.

We have checked the Office 2003 Upgrade off of the Microsoft Site and our
Office 2003 software appears to be current.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Mary -
I tried that and when I got to add I couldn't find the WordArt exe. I know
this shouldn't be this complicated, but I would still like to make it work.

I'm going to be away for a week, so i'll have to leave it for now but will
likely come back to you for more advice then. Thanks for all your help so
far.

Hi Mary
I am back from vacation and trying this again. !

I've looked in the Windows Explorer and found under Windows/System32/
PbWrdArt which is Size - 117KB and Type - Application. If I double click
on it, it asks if I want to run it and I do and it tells me it is
successfully installed.

Everytime it tells me that it is installed but when i open Publisher and go
to Insert Object, it just isn't there.

I'm wondering could there be some part of Publisher that I don't have
installed that is needed to run this?

Is the add-in listed in the "Add or Remove Programs" in the control panel? If it is
remove it and install again.
Have you had to open a Publisher document created in an earlier version?
I am not altogether sure you can use it as an add-in if you have no remnants of
Office 2000 and below on your computer. The support documents aren't really clear
about this.

I did remove it and installed it again and still the same problem.

Yes I have opened Publisher documents created in earlier versions.

I only have Publisher 2003 installed. I tried this on both my home
computer and work computer. Both have only 2003 and the installation prompts
said it worked with 2003

I guess I need to give up. I really appreciate all your patience and
suggestions.
