First look to see if the "Drawing" toolbar is in visible. If not use
"View", "Toolbars", and check "Drawing." On the drawing toolbar click
the "line" icon and then start the line where you need its origin.
While holding the left mouse button move to the opposite side for the
line's end. Taking advantage of the line still being selected, use the
"line style" (also on the drawing toolbar) to format it to the desired
weight. For the coloring change find the "line color" to show the
palette of the template. If the yellow you need is among those
available it can be applied now. If not chose "more line colors" and an
array of colors will appear for your choosing. If still not there
select the "custom" tab and mix the red, blue, greens to get the result
needed.

Hi Donna,

I'm not sure I understand where the disconnect is.

Open PowerPoint. Open your presentation. Click View => Slide Master.
Select the Master you want to alter.

Click on the Drawing Bar (bottom of the screen) icon that looks like a line.
Draw the line where you want. With the line still selected, click on the
Drawing bar icon that looks like a series of lines ranging from skinny to
fat. Select 3 point. Click on the Drawing bar icon that looks like a
paintbrush over a fat line, and select the color yellow.

Click on Close Master. If everything is the way you want, click save
presentation.
