Dropdown box

I'm used to using ms access and after selecting an item from a dropdown box
I fill in another text box with the resault of the dropdown box. For
example, if I pick an inventory item # the inventory description is filled
into the ajacent text box.

Is there somw code snippit that would point me in the right direction on how
to do this?
