DSUM in header, detail, or footer

What's the difference? From other stuff I have read it should be in the
footer, but no matter where I put it, it only re-calcs after I move off the
parent record (the dsum is on a sub-form)on the main form.

Thoughts? Where should the DSum be and what are the differences inwhere I
place it. Also, how can I get it to re-calc when I want it to. me.refresh?
