dual screen & synchronization.

I am running PPT 2003. I regularly run presenations in dual screen view.
Typically, I loop an announcements slideshow before running the main
presentation.

At one time, I was able to edit the main presentation while the announcement
presentation happily looped in the background. I don't know what i'm doing
different, but now any time the announcements loop is running, when I go to
edit the other file, the announcements show just freezes in its tracks.

The other symptom is that if screen 1 has the normal view for the
announcements while it loops on screen 2, the "slides" pane on screen 1 now
syncs a hilight of the slide currently active in the screen 2 loop. Once
upon a time, when I was able to edit a different file while a loop was
running, there was no such sync. That also was with ppt 2003.

What's happening? How do I get back to being able to edit my main show while
the announcements loop?

You may be mistaken. PowerPoint in presentation mode is an exclusive
running program. Whenever any other program or window gets the focus, the
presentation stops. This is normal, this is as it was designed.

The good news is that there is an add-in that will allow multiple shows
and/or the continuation of the running loop while other
presentations/programs are worked on.
