duplicate personal folders

Somewhow, I have three personal folders, two of them are
full duplicates, the third does not expand, and I can't
delete it. Even though the contact list is OK, it does not
work when I want to autocomplete name for new mail
(address list could not be displayed. Contacts folder
associated with this mail box could not be opened etc. But
the contact folder works fine. There is only one pst file.

Recreate your profile in the Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles

I have the same problem with the Contacts folder not
associated etc... and autocomplete not functioning. I'd
be very interested in the answer too.

The solution is as posted above; recreate your mailprofile.

Also make sure that the Contacts Folder properties have the Outlook Address
Book option selected. If you can't select the option you'll need to add the
Outlook Address Book service first in your mail profile.

Thanks, but profile is outlook only, and looks fine. only
one pst file, but three personal folders and one archive
file. no contacts folder in list of folders, but it's ok
in the menu list. i don't think the profile thing is
involved.

OK contacts file now associated but does not yet show up
as a folder, not big issue. But personal folders in three
copies is a problem. Deleted default profile, set up new
one, same problem. Any other solution?

Did you really remove the profile or just the services? You need to delete
the profile. Anyway, the pointers to the folders are stored in the registry.
Look for duplicate enties and delete them (make a backup first)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles]
