Duration

I have a task that requires that 3 different resources each work 8 hours in a
single day to complete a task:

Work - 24 hours
Duration - 1 day

I have tried all task types and have enabled and disabled effort driven
scheduling. I have confirmed that 1 day is set to 8 hours in the project
calendar. All 3 resources are assigned at 100% and they are not assigned to
any other tasks in the project right now. I have also confirmed all 3
resources are available 8 hours/day.

Can anyone help me understand how I can get Project to set duration to 1 day?

What is the computed duration when you make it type: fixed work?

Hi Elaine,

Create your task and enter the 1 day duration. Split your screen
(Window > Split) to show the Task form. Select the first resource from
the drop-down list under Resource Name. Go under the first resource and
select the 2nd resource. Go under the second resource and select the
third resource. Click the OK button.

You should now have a 1 day duration task with three resources each
working 8 hours for a total of 24 hours of work.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I found the problem! The task was inadvertantly set to 100% complete. When
I changed it to 0% complete, the result was predictable.

Thanks for your offer of help!

Thank-you for your help. The task had inadventantly been set to 100%
complete. When I changed it back to 0% complete, it worked as I expected.

I hadn't discovered the split screen feature for assigning resources. It
will be helpful as I go forward. Thanks again!
