Durations in MS Project

Hi,

When creating a GANTT chart in Project, how exactly do the durations
work?

I created an event running from 01/10/08 to 31/03/09, yet this is
showing as a 6.55 month duration!

Is the duration in the left-hand column different due to working
days??? If so, is there a way to turn this off?

Cheers,

Rob.

Rob,
The value in the Duration field is the number of working days, (per the
project calendar), between the start and finish. Normally the duration
is set to display days, however it can be set to display other units of
times as well. The definition of a day, week or month as used in the
duration field display is determined by the setting under
Tools/Options/Calendar tab (i.e. hours per day, hours per week, and
hours per month).

Hope this helps.
