dynamic links between Excel and Project

V

vikas

I tried linking excel information from Excel to Project (via paste special >
paste link > text data).
For some reason changes to the data in Excel is not reflected on Project.
The small corner triangle indicating that it is a dynamic link is seen. If I
try to delete the data, I get the warning box saying its a dynamic link.

Reverse link from Project to Excel works perfectly.

All help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Vikas,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Have you got Automatic Calculation turned on (Tools/Options/Calculation
tab)?

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Vikas,
In addition to what Mike suggested let me add the following. Paste links
are very fragile. If they are not created and maintained with great
discipline, paste links can easily become corrupt. So, be forewarned.

If Mike's suggestion solves your problem and you are already aware of
the fragility of paste links, great. If not, you might want to try a
different approach. If so, tell us what you are trying to accomplish by
linking Project and Excel and we can likely help find a better solution.
