E-mails remain in Outbox

E

Hi,

I am having a problem with e-mails remaining in the outbox in Outlook
2000. When I type a new mail it goes to the outbox and stays there
until I either click on another folder (i.e. sent items, calendar etc)
or click on New Message. I also don't receive new e-mails until I
either send an e-mail myself or, again, click on a different folder to
the one I'm currently in. I've tried using another PC and I don't have
this problem so I assume it is not my Exchange account which is the
problem.

The only thing which I have changed on my PC in the past few days is
to install Windows XP service pack 2 (which I've now uninstalled!). I
have tried re-installing Outlook and Office service pack 3. Any help
with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
