Editing auto shape objects

I want to be able to reveal the edit pointsin Power Point Auto Shape objects.
For example, I would like to be able to easily reshape a circle into a
semi-circle.

In PowerPoint 2007, select the shape, then display the Format Ribbon. Click
the Edit Shape command (in the Insert Shapes group) and choose "Convert to
Freeform." Then, click the Edit Shape command again, and choose "Edit Points."

The edit points are specific to irregular (free form) shapes. In an
autoshape type circle there are no edit points.

To create a half circle, you can:
1) Save the circle as an image and crop 1/2 if it off
2) Use the "Block Arc" autoshape object type and adjust the handle to
form a 1/2 circle
3) Use the More Autoshapes option to select a "Chord" shape type

I'm sure about 2003, but in 2007, I can get edit points on a drawing created
using the ellipse tool.
