Editing images in a PowerPoint Presentation

Is there a way that one can have a PPT Powerpoint presentation and
access the images, edit the images in an image editing program and
have the new images in the PPT.

If you link the images instead of inserting them, PowerPoint will reflect the
changes the next time it is run.
