When I do a send/receive, nothing happens in the terminal window, it just
stays static, but I was connected (I received mail during this session, and
all 5 of my email accounts connected to their servers, but the sent file
including an attachment via the Bellsouth POP account did not send, it timed
out)

This is baffling. Are you connected via Ethernet? Commands are different
depending on your setup.

Try this command:

sudo tcpflow -c port 80

Then launch your browser and see if it logs any info.

Try EavesDrop that I mentioned previous. It's more automatic. You should be
seeing lots of traffic.

If you're connecting wirelessly then use en1 instead of en0. To verify
this you can open the Network Utility application found in
/Applications/Utilities and you'll find the name of your Ethernet
connection listed in the drop-down menu.

Hope this helps!

Refer to the attached thread on apple.com. Changing th network MTU to 1468
in your netwrok settings solves the issue (it works for me at least). Glad
to know it took the general public to figure out someting all these
apparently brilliant Microsoft MVP's never even took the time or care to
check out

I resent your implications that we don't care or take the time to try to
find answers. We are volunteers that provide our time and expertise to try
to help. We are not given answers for problems from Microsoft. We learn from
our own personal experience and from what others have shared on this
newsgroup and other lists.

Refer to the attached thread on apple.com. Changing th network MTU to 1468

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1091916&start=15&tstart=0

You're being extremely careless recommending that others do that
without knowing if that's what's causing the problem for them -
especially considering they probably don't even know what MTU is. I
wouldn't recommend changing your MTU unless your service provider tells
you to do so, as stated by Apple:

Glad
to know it took the general public to figure out someting all these
apparently brilliant Microsoft MVP's never even took the time or care to
check out

Microsoft MVPs are volunteers that aren't paid by Microsoft. They are
here to being with because they care. I don't know where you get off
insulting them like this.

G

geoffg

First, Jolly Roger, you are an idiot. The whole point was that the ISP
doesn't know the cause - they pointed to Microsoft. Further, the "fix" i
linked to was posted by an AT&T technician (if you were objective enough to
read it) and the "fix" has been vetted. I did not have to caution Roshni,
because the ISP is the same.

Second, Jolly Roger - I "insulted" the MVPs becuase THEY had me run all
these tests nearly a month ago and post the responszes, then never replied as
to the meaning of any of it - they care? They quit on me and took their ball
home.

Third, diane, read the above. YOU are the one who had me use Eavesdrop etc.
to capture the data stream, which I posted to no avail and "radio silence"
from you all for almost a month.

Last, how would I EVER know that these people do not work for Microsoft? I
came to a Microsoft site and got to a discussion group. Her signature says
she is a "Microsoft Entourage MVP". NOWHERE does it say these people do not
work for Microsoft.....Sorry I am just not as "smart" as all the rest of you,
since apparently I could not figure out network flows and that the MVPs are
volunteers. However, ALL I EVER WANTED (as did all the other posters, here
and at the Apple site) was a solution, which I now have - so how dare you
criticize me for posting it. That would be like having a cure for cancer and
not sharing it with others who need it, simply because a drug company doesn't
'accept" the result. patent stupidity.

J

Jolly Roger

I'm a bit baffled. As far as I can see this is the first time you have even
posted to this thread. Are you "geoffg"?

We need details before we can know what to suggest? See "How to report a
problem".

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/support_options/report.html>

Well, geoffg seems to know _all_ about this Roshni's problem even
though Roshni didn't explain what the problem was. My guess is Roshni
*is* indeed geoffg himself, posting as someone else. geoffg seems to
be a bit of a jerk, so he's been introduced to my kill file. : ) Good
riddance.

Have you tried turning off Authentication?

We have examples of several accounts listed here:
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/accounts/index.html>

Check over some of the examples to learn what others are using.

Yours is the first request for help with Frontiernet. To help you further,
we need type of account (POP, IMAP)

What do you have listed under SMTP?

I have been following this discussion for months and I have not seen any solution offered that has solved my problem. I have a POP account with AT&T Yahoo and, ever since they changed their server settings, I have not been able to use Entourage. I am presently using Apple Mail and it works just fine. But I miss the features of Entourage and I think it's outrageous that Microsoft has neither the skill nor the will to fix it.

solution offered that has solved my problem. I have a POP account with
AT&T Yahoo and, ever since they changed their server settings, I have not
been able to use Entourage. I am presently using Apple Mail and it works
just fine. But I miss the features of Entourage and I think it's
outrageous that Microsoft has neither the skill nor the will to fix it.

First of all, please don't be so quick to insult the competency of the folks
at Microsoft, it's highly inappropriate.

I use Entourage 2008 with AT&T Yahoo! and it works fine. In fact, I've never
had to change my settings from when it was SBC Yahoo!, other than the server
names.

My settings are:

Account ID: My Email Address
POP server: pop.att.yahoo.com
Password: My Password
This POP service requires a secure connection (SSL)
