Email Errors> no download of messages>error messages.

My email has been working just fine until today. I can't think of anything
I've done to create a problem. I'm using WindowsXP-pro-sp2; Outlook 2003,
and Norton AntiVirus 2005. The same problem just started in Outlook Express
as well. Was on the phone with Charter for over two hours removing email
accounts and then adding them from scratch. I've been trying for hours and
hours fix this to no avail--the error message keeps coming up and I'm
expecting some very important email.

The error messages will say something like these:

Task '(e-mail address removed) - Receiving' reported error (0x800CC0f) : 'The
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues,
contact your administrator or ISP. The server responded: +OK 65412 octets'

And.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'pop.charter.net'. Protocol: POP3, Server Response:
'+OK 1893 octets', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No. Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Please help ASAP!

Thank you,

Stanford

A few items that could be causing this issue are: a firewall is blocking
access; an antivirus email scan is causing a conflict or another program
conflicting with your email protocol as well as poor connectivity.

Everything has been working fine for months now, I did not install anything
new, hardware or software; and Norton 2005 has been there all
long. .Though I am starting to wonder about those automatic updates--from
Norton, and MS as well. I did try to disable Norton but --still no receive,
just the error messages. In the past I had a hexx of a time un-installing
Norton, I hate the thought of having to do that process again. I'm using
the Windows XP firewall, and like I said everything has been working just
fine for many months now.

Do I really need to uninstall Norton? I did turn off email scanning and
then totally disabled it.

Anyway thanks for your help,

Stanford
