Email from Word keeps opening OUTLOOK EXPRESS

I want to email a word document by just pressing SEND.
But Express keeps opening up even though not my default client.
I want it to open in OUTLOOK instead.
What are the steps to tell Word?

Set Outlook as your default e-mail application in Windows > Control Panel >
Internet Options > Programs.

I already tried this - but for some unexplained reason the document STILL
tries to open something other than the specified email client (despite what
it says in Control Panel) ???

Can anyone explain this canundrum?

Is Word remembering some kind of previous setting?

Have you selected Outlook as your default mail client in Internet Explorer
(Tools | Internet Options | Programs)?
