Email items appear as having been read

I recently purhased a Treo and am using with my office Exchange Server.
I use Intellisync, the program that came with the Treo to sync with my
server. Now, whenever email comes into Outlook 2003, the mail appears
as having been read when it wasn't. Anyone no a setting that can stop
this from happening. I also notice that calendar items don't show up,
meaning they are just white boxes where there should be text. Strange?
