Email not arriving from exchange server until clicking elsewhere

Hi,

i originally posted this question last week but it seems to have been
removed before being successfully answered so i'll try again.

when i am sent an email, it appears to get stuck on the exchange server
until i click elsewhere in Outlook. ie, i toggle to Outlook, click on a
previous message in my Inbox and x amount of emails arrive that have been
sitting on the server for a certain period of time. If i don't toggle to
Outlook, the emails will eventually reach me of their own accord.

I am using Outlook 2000 SP-3. I am using Windows 2000 Professional SP-4. I
am in an office environment where all my colleagues receive mail from the
same exchange server. None of my colleagues have the same problem.

could someone tell me what i need to do to fix this fault
