email signature not appearing on some returned email

B

Bret Kennedy

not sure what is happening, it thought it might have been because i am
recieving these emails in txt form, not html, but i have a signature, which
is just a word doc with a pic in it, new emails i send it comes up no
problems, but for reply emails, it only works sometimes.

any ideas what i should do to make it come up all the time? would i be
better off using a jpg file which has all my signature? cheers

READ THE SIGNATURE OPTIONS THOUROUGHLY

Well you have managed to not help me..

I have 'LOOKED AT THE OPTIONS THOROUGHLY" and they are set to what I want,
reply and new emails using the signature.

Now as I asked the question before, maybe you can 're-read' the question and
then come back with a 'sensible' answer, and not something that is of the
obvious.

And to enhance my answer,

My settings are 'when receiving in rich text, reply in "HTML"'

so if you have any other answers, please share them with me, but make sure
they are answers to the question i have asked.

thanks

My guess is that those "sometimes" are the times when the format of the
incoming message doesn't match the format of your signature file. Create a
sig file in each format (Plain Text, HTML, and Rich Text) and see if that
helps.

When you receive in html, you reply in html. When you receive in
plain text, you reply in plain text. Since your signature isn't
plain text, it won't appear when replying to plain text emails. I'm
assuming you are using Word as your email editor and new emails are
composed in html.

If you want your signature to appear in every reply, create a plain
text signature and make it the default for replies. When you reply,
make sure the formatting is html. If it's plain text, change it
using the drop down box on the toolbar. Right click the plain text
signature and choose your normal signature. It should be there now.

Alternatively, and probably easier, don't use Word as your editor.
Then you can choose your signature after changing to html (you can't
do that with Word).

i have done that, and i seem to find that the signature works ( and this is
replying to a hotmail account, so even that might be it) but the picture
that is part of the signature doesn't show.

i also re edited the sig without word, just in outlook, and still same
thing. is it a homtail thing?

It could be, but I'm not in a position to experiment. Is your picture
contained in the same folder as your signature file?

Hi Bret,

I probably wasn't clear with my previous posts, so I'll try to be
this time. This is the easiest way I know to accomplish what I
think you want (signature w/picture on every email you send).

In Options/Mail Format, make sure you're message format is HTML and
you aren't using Word to edit email messages. You have a signature
with a picture in it, right? On the same screen under Signatures,
select that signature for new messages and for replies and forwards
(both drop-down boxes).

Whenever you don't see your signature when composing, it means the
message format is Plain Text. Change it to HTML by choosing
Format/HTML. Now, put the cursor where you want to insert your
signature and choose Insert/Signature. Now all your emails will
have your signature with the picture.

BTW, when you change from Plain Text to HTML your font will change
to Times New Roman 10 (it's an Outlook thing). If you don't like
that, you can highlight everything and change it to what you want.
