Enlarge compressed images

I have transferred photos from my camera to my laptop, and in order to email
them, used the compression feature on Microsoft Office Picture Manager. I
have now tried to resize the photos to their original size, and they become
distorted. How can I do this without them blurring?

resizing pictures is
a balancing act between
file type, file size and
dpi/resolution.

ideally, convert your
pictures into jpg's and
for a file size of approx
150k.

what you can do is
either zip the originals
and send them as zipped
files/attachments.

or use a more complex
graphic software that
provides additional
features.

if you don't have a fancy
graphics software, i think a
good internet feature
is walmarts online photo
dept.

there you can catalog/upload your
pics in a online account,
adjust them and reproduce
them and have them mailed,
etc...

however, you can query
google for free graphics
software like googles picasa,
gimp, etc.

or you can download
a trial copy of adobe's photoshop.

if you have other questions
about pictures you can
post them to:

Thanks - that's really useful for future emailing of pictures, but I have
saved the ones I compressed in their compressed state - and I need to enlarge
them back to their original size without them becoming blurred/pixelated.

unfortunately, picture manager
has it's limitations and cannot
uncompress a pic after you saved
it permanently.

it is similar to any document that
has been modified and the changes
saved.

Having compressed and saved the images, you have lost data. It's gone.

Always save modified images to a different file, keep your originals (just
as you would do for photographic negatives)

The best you might do is use an image editor that can smartly resize, doing
some smoothing in the process. IrfanView (free at www.irfanview.com) can
help. But nothing can restore the images to the original quality.
