entering data into a cell

I am trying to enter data into cells in my worksheet. When
I type the following entry "anc", it appears as "can". I
have tried formatting the cell where I am entering the
above data, but "anc" still appears as "can". What should
I do?

Go to:
<Tools> <AutoCorrect>
Scroll down until you find "acn" in the left column.
Select it, then <Delete>, then <OK>.

Go to Tools/Autocorrect and uncheck the "Replace text as you type"
checkbox.

If you don't want to do that, delete the "anc" autocorrect item. Be
aware that doing so will affect all Office apps, though.
