Entire document font changes, not just selected text.

Whenever I highlight an area to bold, italicize, change font size, all text
within the document changes. How do I correct this so that only the
highlighted area is effected? I have rn the "Detect & Repair" without
success.

You have your Normal style set to "Automatically Update". Click "Format",
"Styles and Formatting". Click the dropdown arrow next to the "Normal"
style and click "Modify". Uncheck this option.
