Hi,

I have had Entourage 2008 for a while and enjoyed using it to connect to my corporate email via owa that was running on exchange 2003. Recently my company has upgraded to exchange 2007 and I am no longer able to sync anything with entourage and am unsure what the issue is. The weird thing is that my iphone was able to connect to exchange 2007 without any issues...

It is crazy that I have the most difficulty connecting a microsoft email product to a microsoft email platform.

Can Entourage not use the same protocols as a web browser does when connecting over OWA?

Hi Mike,

Yes, Entourage 2008 (as long as it is not the EWS beta) does use the same protocols to connect to OWA whether it is Exchange 2003, or Exchange 2007. However the URL for OWA has changed in Exchange 2007. In Exchange 2003 the URL would be something like <https://mail.domain.com/exchange>. In Exchange 2007, the URL has changed to <https://mail.domain.com/owa>. You will need to change your settings inside Entourage to reflect this change. If IIS is configured properly on your Exchange server, it is likely you can just drop the /OWA, and point to <https://mail.domain.com> as OWA should be the default website for that server. Please keep in mind these OWA URL's are examples only, you will need to get the actual URL from your Exchange admin whomever that may be, it could be something totally different.

As far as the iPhone goes, it does not use OWA to connect to Exchange. It actually uses Exchange Activesync which is a completely seperate protocol from WebDAV (the protocol OWA uses).

As far as Entourage issues connecting to Exchange in generel, yes it is strange that they seemed to have taken a step back from Outlook for the Mac's. I have been in the beta program for Entourage EWS, and things are getting better. Snow Leopard will also make Apple Mail more functional and easier to configure when connecting to an Exchange server, although there are still bugs to be worked out there. Until full MAPI support is offered, you likely will still have little issues like this, and even then, upgrading from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 is a major change. Likely all the server names and URL's have changed, so you'd have to reconfigure the client either way. From the sound of things though, it does not sound like M$ is going that way with Entourage (MAPI support).

Bet you weren't expecting a book in response to your three questions were you?

Hope that helps
