Entourage database re-build doesn't work

Benjamin

Hi,

Long story; the short version:
Entourage (latest version) - database crashed. Size is approx 2.2Gb.
Did re-build. Worked. Day later crashed again. Did re-build; didn't
work. Did compact-dbase, then rebuild - rebuild crashed. Did replair
diskpermission, then worked again.
Then deleted loads of attachments (I have two account; one exchange
based and one gmail which I imap) - datbase file size 2.3Gb (strangely
enough increased after deleting stuff).
Then decided to compact - rebuild - restart & repair disk permission.
Result: didn't work; so reverted back to the previous 'main identity'
folder. Entourage now opens, but I'm afraid to close it or compact
database again.

I delete stuff from the exchange account and can't see those
attachments on the exchange webmail - so that's really gone. But
deleting attachments from gmail account - deletes from entourage, but
going to gmail web I see the attachments again...

What can I do to get this stable (and smaller database size) again?
Create new identity? Rather not want to re-create all email accounts
etc again... Any way I can export those and import in new identity
automatically?

Any help would be much appreciated!
Thnx,

Benjamin

Yes!

Accounts do not export and categories do not export for calendar events,
notes and tasks. Take screen shots of your account. If you are running
Leopard or Tiger, there are shareware scripts that will export accounts etc.

Do not try to export your messages! You can download those again from the
server. Use File > Export as Entourage archive (.rge) file, one item at a
time to get events, notes & tasks. For more complete directions see;

How to manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move
to a new Identity same version or revert to an older version)
