Entourage for Mac OS X

I am using Office X, Entourage for mail. I am on a friends wireless network
and find that I can receive mail but cannot send. I changed the port to 587
which works for the Mac OS mail program, but it isn't doing the trick with
Entourage. Any suggestions?

Most users that hang out in this newsgroup are Windows users and can't help with the Macintosh version of
Microsoft Office.

I'd suggest that you post over at

microsoft.public.office.mac
AND/OR
microsoft.public.office.mac.entourage

They aren't supposed to be links.

If you aren't using a news reader (such as Microsoft Outlook Express), here are the links:

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie....aspx?g=microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage
or
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie....aspx?g=microsoft.public.office.mac.entourage

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?g=microsoft.public.mac.office
or
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?g=microsoft.public.office.mac

Note that if word wrapping is on, the links may break. If so, you'll need to copy them to SimpleText or
whatever that text editor in Mac OS X (ten) is called, then delete the line break and copy the link again to
paste is in your web browser.

This is the case with the reply from Carey Frisch [MVP] ([email protected]).

Timothy L,
FYI you can create links that open in Outlookexpress by formatting
the link like the top link below. You only need to include the link for the
main page on the web interface because all links end up on the main page for
newsgroup selection with the Web Interface.

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage ---Outlookexpress
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx ----- Web Interface

Use one of the above links to post your message to the Entourage NewsGroup

Life would be easier if we could view the source code

Most SMTP ("outgoing mail") servers will reject "mail relaying", i.e.
accepting mail sent from someone not authenticated. That happens when
you are on a friend's network and try to send mail through your own
ISP's SMTP server (assuming that your friend is not using the same ISP).
This is a very common cause for the "can receive but not send"
situation. The fact that you got your MacMail working counts against
this explanation, though, but that program might use a different server
or connect with authentication (login).

Try using the same SMTP server in Entourage that your friend uses.
