I am using Entourage 2008 v12.1.7 running on OSX v10.5.6 on an intel 3.06 Ghz Core 2 Duo 24" aluminum Imac (June 2008 version). I am using exchange server SBS 2003. I have been using this setup without problem since June of 2008. Recently (less than 1 month), when deleting emails from my inbox, entourage unexpectedly shuts down. This happens very frequently, and very randomly (after 1, 7, or any other number of consecutive deletions). Help (btw, I have over 300GB of unused disk space available, and 4 GB of RAM)

I know you're trying to get rid of messages but this may be a case where
the cache for your Deleted Items folder is corrupt. You may need to
empty the cache, sync your Deleted Items folder again and then empty it.

If you see this in just one or a handful of folders then right-click or
Control-click that folder, select Folder Properties and click the Empty
button to empty the cache. You can also select the account itself and
empty the cache for all of your folders.

Hope this helps!

Bill,

I have similar problem with Entourage closing. I have my Entourage
open 24/7. I read/write emails throughout the day until I turn in for
the evening. When I wake up the next morning, I discover that
Entourage has closed. I have to launch it again. This happens every
morning. Strange...

Thoughts?

Do you do any type of backup during the night? Some schedule is quitting
Entourage.

Quit all Microsoft applications before backing up

Hi Diane,

There are no types of backup during the night. Here's additional info,
this problem only happens at the user's secondary home. It does not
happen at their primary residence. The laptop in question is always
brought to the secondary home if they will stay overnight. We have
already ruled out the electrical. The user also has a PC laptop in
addition to the MAC laptop that is having the issue. The problem only
happens on the MAC/Entourage that is connected to our Exchange server.
Outlook on the PC does not have this problem.

The connection at the primary house is a business grade T1 (1.5MB),
while the connection at the secondary house is Cable Modem. If having
a "flaky" connection to the Internet cause Entourage to quit itself?

I am baffled.

Thanks,
Manny

It sounds like the problem is at the location and not with Entourage or the
computer if it works as expected except at that location.

I have never heard of Entourage shutting down though when the connection was
bad.

Exactly what hardship is on the user to start up Entourage when this
happens? You could try using "Work offline" to eliminate the connection as
the cause.

Please do not double post. I see two other posts with the same subject but
with different emails. We are all volunteers here and when someone answers

soon find yourself on everyone's killfile list.
