'.eps' files will not view on screen

'.eps' images that were used in Word 2000 are not working
correctly in Office XP. A graphic does appear, but it's
an empty box. Half the time, they will not appear on
screen, but will print fine. My 'place holders'
in 'options > view' is not checked. Other images
(.tif, .jpg, & .bmp) view fine on screen and print. Any
suggestions?

Any help is appreciated!

..eps files can be created with or without a preview. If created with a
preview, the preview will be in .tif or .wmf format. Since you say this
problem only happens "half the time" and other .tif images view fine on
screen, I'm guessing the problem is that the .wmf graphic converter is
not installed. A way to test this hypothesis is to click on Insert |
Picture | From File, and see if Windows Metafile (.wmf) is in the "Files
of Type:" list. HTH.
