.eps problems in publisher and word

I have created an .eps file using Adobe IllustratorCS2 with a .tiff preview.
I have installed the filter for Microsoft office 2003 to read the .eps files
but I still get a blank box. There is nothing in the box, no text or image.
What else can I do. At one time, I could see my files when I used an older
version of Illustrator. I could convert to other raster formats but they
become grainy when enlarged. I would rather use .eps for vector type art.
Help, this is very frustrating to create a piece and then not be able to
place it in an office program.

Unfortunately, it will not save in the .wmf format and the .eps format only
allows a .tiff in 8 bit color, b/w or none. I went in a did another test to
see if turning off the postscript printing would do it but I still get a
blank box. I went into Publisher under veiw and made sure that the detail
view was checked not the box only view. Still nothing shows.

Does the .eps print even though you cannot see it on the screen? I would think
that an $749 (used) product would do anything you asked of it.

Mary,
I figured it out and it works. The article you attached stated that
Microsoft knew of the problem between .eps files and publisher but have not
come up with a solution to correct the problem. I did, however, take the .eps
file and export it. The program does not allow you to export as an .eps file
but you can save first asn .eps format then export the same file as an .wmf
file. Exporting allowed me to save it in a number of different formats. It's
not as clean as an .eps file but close. The .wmf format worked out where I
could see my image in publisher. It's a little extra work and files on the
computer but at least I have something to see when working on a layout.

Hi D W, It's great you figured it out. I appreciate your sharing your success.

When I open an .eps in CorelDraw, I simply copy and paste special as a .wmf into
Publisher. Does that work in Illustrator?
