Error 1406 installing Office Enterprise 2007

Deano Supremo

I'm trying to install Office 2007 Enterprise and I keep getting 1406 errors
when trying to install.

I can click on "Ignore" and the installation will still go through to the
end but I believe it's blocking the installation of Office update KB946691.

Is there any way I can resolve this? I'm running XP SP3 and I'm on an
Administrator account. This is a fresh Windows installation too.

Call the IT person at the Company from where you got your Office Enterprise edition from through their Home Program. They are the ones that can most likely help out with the Enterprise version of Office

Hi,
I had a similar office 2003 SP3 / Vista Ultimate SP2 problem not allowing
updates (57) and errors (1406) during repair/install. This was due to
incorrect permissions on registry keys. I used Office Repair to identify the
keys and registry editor to apply the required permissions. Try my recent
post "Repair 1406 and 57E Window Update Errors Registry Issues".
If the install allows you to identify the errant keys (or any other way to
get these) then this may work. Don't forget to backup your registry / set
system restore point.
